HC Deb 02 March 1976 vol 906 cc556-7W
Mr. Tom King

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has had further meetings with NFSO and MHRA on the working of the Mobile Homes Act 1975; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the outcome of these meetings.

Mr. Armstrong

I met representatives from the Mobile Home Residents Association on 23 rd February and a meeting between officials of the Department and representatives of the National Federation of Site Operators and the National Caravan Council was held the following day. As a result of these meetings and the increasing concern expressed by hon. Members from all sides of the House, my right hon. Friend has decided to make an order under Section 6 of the Mobile Homes Act prescribing 15 per cent. as the maximum rate of discount or commission which may be specified in agreements offered residents under the Act. It is intended that the order will come into operation on 10th March and will affect all such agreements which are entered into on or after that date.
