§ Mr. Banksasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he proposes to take to deal with the effects on agriculture and horticulture, caused by the present shortage of water.
§ Mr. StrangI am advised that it is the lack of rainfall rather than the shortage of water which is causing the most difficulties to the agriculture and horticulture industries. My Department is in close and continuous touch with the regional water authorities in those areas which are suffering a water shortage and I am satisfied that all possible steps are being taken to help the farmers and growers concerned.
