asked the Prime Minister whether he will define the responsibilities of the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection.

The Prime Minister

The Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection is responsible for prices policy, the Price Code and the Price Commission, and has overall responsibility for food subsidy policy. She also deals with consumer affairs generally and is responsible for policy on fair trading, home and consumer safety, consumer credit, standards and weights and measures—including metrication—and on monopolies, mergers and restrictive practices.
