asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if the Government have issued any instructions to local authorities in Scotland to discontinue their policy of the payment of M.Ed. students' fees.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what was the total cost to the Government in each of the last five years of the payment of M.Ed students' fees in Scotland;

(2) how many M.Ed graduates there have been in Scotland in each of the last five years.
