§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe Home Office guide to safety at fairs has been published today. It is a comprehensive document covering such matters as the structural, mechanical and electrical safety of amusement devices, their safe operation and maintenance, and general fire safety requirements. The guide is not a set of statutory requirements, but has been designed primarily to assist local authorities in their task of ensuring that reasonable precautions are taken for the safety of people attending fairs and similar places of entertainment. The guide should also be helpful to fairground and circus operators, manufacturers of amusement devices and others who are concerned with safety at fairs.
