asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the position of Her Majesty's Government in regard to the World Employment Conference.

Mr. John Grant

I attended the World Employment Conference on 11th June and made it clear that Her Majesty's Government recognise the gravity of the world-wide unemployment situation and accept the general principle of the basic needs approach outlined in the document "Employment Growth and Basic Needs: a One-World Problem", although with a certain number of reservations.
