HC Deb 25 June 1976 vol 913 cc432-3W
Mr. Clegg

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether any steps have been taken recently to monitor pollution in the River Wyre; and whether he will make a statement showing whether pollution is increasing or diminishing in that river.

Mr. Denis Howell

Regular monitoring of water quality in the River Wyre is carried out monthly by the North West Water Authority and its records show a slight trend towards improvement in quality. The whole of the river upstream of the tidal limit is generally within class 1 of the River Pollution Survey—i.e., unpolluted or recovered from pollution.
