HC Deb 25 June 1976 vol 913 c494W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether it is intended to introduce legislation implementing the 1967 International Labour Conference recommendation that 55 kilograms (121 1bs) be the maximum weight which may be transported manually by one adult worker; and, if so, when.

Mr. John Grant

I am informed by the Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that the qualifications expressed in the White Paper (Cmnd. 3765 September 1968) are still valid and that it is not intended to introduce legislation implementing the ILO recommendation relating to a single maximum weight.
