asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, what percentage of staff employed by the Lancashire LEA on 1st April 1974 were in non-teaching posts; what is the percentage on the latest available date; and how this compares with the national averages for the two dates.

Information is not available to my Department on the numbers employed by individual local authorities. Data about the total numbers employed in the education departments of local authorities in England and Wales in non-teaching posts at June 1974 and at quarterly intervals from March 1975 is published in the Department of Employment Gazette and by the joint staff watch Press releases respectively, copies of which are available in the Library.
