§ Mr. JohnThere are no plans at present to extend the use of Community Service Volunteers in prison service establishments because of the current constraints on public sector expenditure. The use of such volunteers by the probation service is a matter for individual probation and after-care committees but in the present economic situation the opportunities for extending their use must be limited.
