HC Deb 25 June 1976 vol 913 cc458-9W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the cost to the National Health Service of nursing bed sores; if he is aware of technical innovations in hospital and domestic beds to prevent such suffering; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

The cost of nursing bed sores is not separately identifiable from other NHS expenditure. Minimising their incidence is an important aspect of nursing care, and I am aware of the many technical advances and continuing studies contributing to this end, But if my hon. Friend has any suggestions to make I will gladly consider them.
