§ Mrs. Castleasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on what assumption with regard to the growth of exports the central case in Command Paper No. 6393 was based, and to what extent the assumption is being realised.
§ Mr. Joel BarnettThe growth of exports of goods and services in Case II in Command Paper No. 6393 was assumed to be 7½ per cent. to 8 per cent. a year. After a disappointing performance in the first part of 1975, when exports of goods and services fell, a strong recovery has taken place since the latter part of 1975 and according to the CSO's provisional estimates, issued on 21st June, exports of goods and services between the third quarter of 1975 and the first quarter of 1976 rose at an annual rate of 16½ per cent.
