§ Mr. Stephen Rossasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many teeth of the sperm whale were imported in the period (a) 15th March 1973 to 31st December 1975 and (b) 1st January 1976 to 31st May 1976.
§ Mr. Denis HowellBefore 1st January 1976 imports of sperm whale teeth were not subject to licence and no figures are available. Since 1st January 1976 any such import has required a licence from my Department, but no application has been received. Policy on this matter is for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
