§ 46. Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has now studied the numerous letters concerning the Unification Church forwarded to him by the hon. Member for Manchester, Blackley; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Dr. OwenAs regards the papers which my hon. Friend forwarded last year, the position is, as was pointed out in the debate on the Adjournment on 22nd October—[Vol. 898, c. 678–88]—that no evidence has yet been brought to the Department's attention of any health hazards involved in the techniques employed by the church which would justify action under the present law. My Department has not yet had time to study the further papers received on 14th June, but I will write to my hon. Friend if they indicate any change in the situation.
