asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many people have joined the Territorial and Auxiliary Volunteer Reserve during the current year; and how this compares with the same period in 1975.

In the first quarter of 1976, 5,551 joined the TAVR. This compares with 3,611 in the first quarter of last year.
