§ Miss Margaret JacksonAbout £220,000 and £1.7 million respectively on the basis of the average cost of school building in England at the end of the financial year 1975–76 and excluding the cost of furniture and equipment. Of these total costs, site labour is estimated to account on average for about a fifth, and land, the cost of which can vary considerably between particular cases, about a tenth.
