HC Deb 14 June 1976 vol 913 cc45-6W
Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will act to prevent the unauthorised sales of literature by members of the Unification Church in hospital wards under the Oxfordshire Area Health Authority and, in particular, the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, details of which have been forwarded to him by the hon. Member for Manchester, Blackley.

Dr. Owen

The Oxfordshire Area Health Authority (Teaching) allows sales in wards only by authorised trolley services—Leagues of Friends, etc.—and authorised newspaper vendors.

Two incidents have been reported: one at the Radcliffe Infirmary and the other at the John Radcliffe Hospital. On each occasion the staff were aware that the person concerned was trespassing and took appropriate action.

Following these incidents a notice emphasising the need for increased vigilance against unauthorised entry has been sent by the Oxfordshire Area Health Authority (Teaching) to all its hospitals.
