HC Deb 14 June 1976 vol 913 cc26-7W
Mr. Rossi

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the total amount received in stamp duties was on the sale of private dwellings during the last financial year; and what the cost of administering the collection were.

Mr. Denzil Davies

The estimated net receipts of stamp duties on the sales of private dwellings in the United Kingdom in 1975–76 were £60 million. The costs of administering the collection cannot be estimated precisely but are thought to have been about £1 million.
