HC Deb 14 June 1976 vol 913 cc33-4W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the estimated number of males and females, respectively, currently in employment who will reach retiring age over the next 12 months; and what is the estimated number of male and female school and college leavers who it is forecast will seek work over the next 12 months.

Mr. Golding

It is estimated that about 214,000 males and 145,000 females currently in employment will reach the qualifying age for retirement pension during the next twelve months. During the same period about 410,000 males and the same number of females are expected to complete full-time education in schools and colleges in Great Britain and the majority of these will be seeking employment.
