§ Mrs. Chalkerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps have been taken to improve the take-up of the non-contributory invalidity pension.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisThe noncontributory invalidity pension has been given continuing publicity in a variety of ways, notably through the Government's seminar on disablement on 6th–7th February, the seminar on the disabled worker on 21st May and the "teach-in" on new benefits held by my Department in association with the Disabled Income Group on 4th June, all of which were 47W attended by professional workers, voluntary workers and other key figures in the disablement field. Apart from those recipients of supplementary benefit who declined individual invitations to switch part of their income to the new benefit, potential beneficiaries who have still not made a claim for non-contributory invalidity pension are thought to be relatively few in number.
