a statement about Great Britain's contributions to the resources of the Caribbean Development Bank.

Mr. Prentice

Britain is a member of the Caribbean Development Bank and has subscribed the equivalent of US$27 million to the bank's equity capital. US$5 million of this is in paid-up shares and the remainder in callable shares.

Her Majesty's Government have also made two contributions totalling £4.1 million to the bank's special development fund which is used to make loans of high developmental priority on softer terms than is available in the bank's ordinary operations. The first contribution of £2,083,333.33 was made in 1971 when the fund was established and the second of £2,030,456.85 in 1973 towards the first replenishment of the fund. In each case the amount was the equivalent of US$5 million at the time of commitment. Those previous contributions to the special fund are now fully committed to projects and Her Majesty's Government have now agreed to provide £2,706,506.44—the equivalent of a further US$5 million—to help replenish the fund.
