HC Deb 14 June 1976 vol 913 cc5-6W
18. Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he is satisfied with the current level of coal stocks; and if he will make a statement.

25. Mr. Patrick McNair-Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he is satisfied with the current level of coal stocks.

Mr. Eadie

I recognise that coal stocks are high due to the depressed demand for electricity. But, on present forecasts of consumption of coal at power stations, the further increase in stocks this year should not be great. I have asked the CEGB to increase its consumption of coal in South Wales so as to prevent any further increase there in stocks of power station coal.
