§ 26. Mr. Grimondasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what subsidies are presently paid by Her Majesty's Government to transport services in Orkney and Shetland.
§ Mr. MillanIn 1976–77 revenue and capital grants for the Orkney inter-island shipping services are expected to be £320,000. The Government are meeting three-quarters of the cost of new roll-on/roll-off vehicle ferry terminals at Aberdeen and Lerwick with a grant of £4 million, with in addition a loan of £900,000 to Lerwick Harbour Trust. 693W Almost three-quarters of the cost of terminals and vessels for the Shetland interisland vehicle ferry service is being met by a further Government grant of £1.1 million. In addition, expenditure on transport by the Islands Councils is relevant for rate support grant purposes.
