HC Deb 09 June 1976 vol 912 c673W
Mr. Horam

asked the Prime Minister whether it is proposed that gifts should be presented to the Government and Legislature of the Seychelles to mark the attainment of independence by the Seychelles on 29th June.

The Prime Minister

The House will, I feel sure, wish to send warm congratulations to the Seychelles on her forthcoming independence and best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of her people.

Her Majesty's Government will propose that this House should offer a parliamentary gift to the National Assembly of the Seychelles. To mark the occasion, Her Majesty's Government for their part have decided to offer the Government of the Seychelles gifts of a silver rose bowl and a set of leather-bound blotting pads for the Cabinet Room.
