HL Deb 08 June 1976 vol 371 c590WA
Lord BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware of the present reported action by Actors Equity Council in banning exports to South Africa of all recorded and taped material in which Equity members figure; and what is the estimated value of possible exports, should the ban be removed.

Lord ORAM

: Yes, my Lords. I understand that the British television programme distributors are still discussing the matter with Equity. The precise level of potential exports cannot be estimated, but there is likely to be substantial business available in South Africa where television services started this year.

House adjourned at twenty-four minutes before nine o'clock.
