§ Mr. GoldingICL has been in touch with the Department of Industry and my Department about proposals for rationalising its manufacturing division. The temporary employment subsidy scheme has been drawn to its attention, and arrangements are being made to ensure that the full services of the Manpower Services Commission will be available to help any employees who are made redundant. I understand that every means will be examined to minimise the effect of the proposed reductions, with involuntary redundances being used only as a last resort. ICL is consulting its trade unions
