Mr. George

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what was the primary school pupil-teacher ratio in Walsall and the average for all local education authorities for the years 1972–73, 1973–74 and 1974–75; and how many local education authorities had a worse primary school pupil-teacher ratio for each of these years;

(2) what was the pupil-teacher ratio for all schools within the Walsall Education Authority, and the overall average pupil-teacher ratios for all local education authorities for the years 1972–73, 1973–74 and 1974–75; and how many local education authorities had more pupils per teacher than Walsall in each of these years.

(2) how much was spent per primary school pupil on books and teaching equipment in Walsall; what was the average for all local education authorities for the years 1972–73, 1973–74 and 197475; and how many local education authorities spent less per primary school pupil in each of these years than the expenditure in Walsall.
