§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether his proposed cuts in Government expenditure will include the closing of the High Commission establishments in Uganda and the closing of the British Council offices, which would result in a saving of £149,000 per annum.
§ Mr. RowlandsI would refer my hon. Friend to the statement on our relations with Uganda made by my right hon. Friend this afternoon. There are no United Kingdom-based British Council officials in Uganda. The future of the British Council Library in Kampala is still under consideration.
