asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state the names of the "successful" shiprepairing companies currently in public ownership mentioned by the Parliamentary Undersecretary of State, Department of Industry, in this House on 20th July (Hansard, col. 686), and also state the approximate profits of each for the 12-month period ended 30th June 1976.

The names are:—

  • Brigham & Cowan, Limited,
  • Brigham & Cowan (Hull), Limited,
  • The Middle Docks and Engineering Company Limited,

The Mercantile Dry Dock Company, Limited.

The profits made by each of these companies in 1974–75, the latest financial year for which audited accounts are available, are set out in the appropriate annual reports.
