asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how many accidental electrocutions occurred in the home in 1975; and if she will make a statement.

The total number of accidental electrocutions in the home in 1975 was 46. The breakdown according to the type of electrical equipment involved was as follows:

Wiring and accessories 22
Portable tools 8
Electric fires 3
Electric blankets 1
Electronic equipment 1
Miscellaneous appliances 11

The preliminary statistical report for 1975 can be obtained from my Department from today.

A full report on electrical fatalities in the home in 1974 and 1975 by my Department's electrical adviser will be published in the autumn.
