HC Deb 27 July 1976 vol 916 c198W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Attorney-General how many persons have been charged and convicted for the murder of Protestant residents in South Armagh since 1st January 1975.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I have been asked to reply.

In the period 1st January 1975 to 19th July 1976, eight persons were charged in respect of 10 murders in Police Division H, which covers the South Armagh area. I understand that five of these have been convicted, two are awaiting trial, and one charge was not proceeded with. It is not the policy of the police to identify crimes on a religious or sectarian basis.
