HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 cc46-7W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list in theOfficial Report those local education authorities which plan to reduce their provision for sixth-form education as a part of their proposed reduction in expenditure; and what action he proposes to take.

Miss Margaret Jackson

Several authorities are conducting a review of their provision for the 16–19 age group, but I know of none which is proposing to discontinue a sixth form at any school as an economy measure. Any such action would require my right hon. Friend's approval under Section 13 of the Education Act 1944, as amended.
