HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 c6W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the extent of British participation in the NATO Scientists' Conference on Environment Matters now being concluded in Iceland; and what will be the total cost of this participation to the British taxpayer.

Mr. Hattersley

There was no official British involvement in this conference, which was held under the auspices of the NATO Eco-Science Panel, which is part of the NATO Science Committee. I understand that the scientific director and the assistant scientific director of the conference were British and that other British scientists also participated. The costs were met by a grant from the NATO Science Committee.
