HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 c72W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what are the percentages and totals of her advertising budget allocated to both daily and Sunday newspapers at 31st December 1975 and to 30th June 1976.

Mr. Maclennan

Advertising expenditure for the year ended 31st December 1975 was nil. In the six months ended 30th June 1976 advertising was undertaken only in connection with the price check scheme. These costs were a charge on funds made available for counter-inflation publicity. £79,600 was spent on national daily newspapers and £55,080 on Sunday newspapers.
