Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the percentages and totals of his advertising budget allocated to both daily and Sunday newspapers at 31st December 1975 and to 30th June 1976.

Mr. Millan

The cost of publicity advertising in daily newspapers in the year to 31st December 1975 was £42,152 which represented 14.36 per cent. of the total. The comparable figure for Sunday newspapers was £24,570 which represented 8.37 per cent. of the total.

For the six months period to 30th June 1976 such advertising in daily newspapers cost £11,404 which represented 33.89 per cent. of the total. The comparable figure for Sunday newspapers was £1,496 which represented 4.45 per cent. of the total.
