§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what exemptions to sanctions against Rhodesia have been authorised in respect of GCE and other examinations; and what criteria are applied in considering such exemptions.
§ Mr. RowlandsUnited Nations Security Council Resolution 253 (1968) specifically exempts from sanctions
educational equipment and material for use in schools and other educational institutions".In accordance with this resolution, the export of GCE and other examination papers to Rhodesia is licensed under the sanctions legislation.
