§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the total cost of replacing the library and library books at the Bogside, Londonderry since it was first opened.
§ Mr. MoyleI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the branch library at Brooke Park, Londonderry. The branch library has been subjected to bomb attacks on two occasions. The former council offices at Brooke Park, where the branch library was located, were destroyed in June 1973. A temporary building to replace the library was478W opened in September 1973. I understand that the cost of the building and book stock was about £25,000. The temporary building was damaged by a bomb explosion in March 1974; repairs to the premises cost £2,154 and reference books to the value of about £500 were replaced. This building was reopened in October 1974.
