§ Mr. Roperasked the Minister for Overseas Development what arrangements have been made in respect of pension payments to pensioners of the Cotton Research Corporation.
§ Mr. PrenticeBecause of the dissolution of the corporation, and by virtue of an agreement incorporating appropriate financial and other arrangements, my Ministry has assumed responsibility for benefits related to payment of pensions to a small number of pensioners of the corporation. Legislation to cover such payments will be introduced as soon as parliamentary time allows. Parliamentary approval of this new service will be sought in a Supplementary Estimate, for the Pensions etc. (Overseas Services) Vote. Pending that approval, the necessary expenditure will be met by repayable advances from the Contingencies Fund.
