§ Mr. Edgeasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will hold a public inquiry into the organisation and performance of the West Midlands County Ambulance Service.
§ Dr. OwenI am aware that there have been difficulties over the reorganisation of the service since eight borough services were amalgamated in 1974. The West Midlands Regional Health Authority is currently involved in negotiations with staff representatives and I hope the present difficulty can be resolved. I do not believe that a public inquiry would be useful.
