§ Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment which area of England and Wales has recorded the lowest rainfall so far this year; and what was the amount of rainfall in that locality recorded in the same period in each of the last five years.
§ Mr. Denis HowellThe region which has had the least rainfall so far this year is South-East England. The provisional value for rainfall over the region during the first six months of the year is 100 millimetres.
During the same period in the five years 1971–75, the value averaged 332 millimetres.
