HC Deb 13 July 1976 vol 915 cc132-3W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the total number of male and female employees employed in Scotland in February 1974 and at the last available date.

Mr. Golding

A new series of quarterly employment statistics linked to the annual censuses of employment started in June 1974. The numbers of employees in employment in Scotland at that date were 1,227,000 males and 857,000 females. The figures for subsequent quarters are in course of revision as the results of the 1975 census of employment become available. I shall circulate shortly in theOfficial Report the revised figures for the most recent date.
