HC Deb 12 July 1976 vol 915 c50W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what provision he proposes to make to assist the newspaper industry in view of the rise of newsprint costs per tonne within the past two months.

Mr. Meacher

The price of newsprint, which is an internationally traded commodity, reflects world market conditions. I have no plans to intervene in the commercial negotiations between the newspapers and their suppliers.
