§ Mr. DeakinsThe General Index of Retail Prices for this month is not yet available but, on the basis of the movements of the index up to May 1976 (the latest date for which a figure is available), the value of the single person's standard rate of retirement pension—£13.30 a week —represented an improvement in purchasing power of about 2¼ per cent. as compared with the rate current in July 1975, and of about 12½ per cent, as compared with the pension payable in February 1974.
