§ Mrs. Wiseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how he will obtain a national and overall report and evaluation of the work of the Community Development Projects, in the light of the fact that the Information and Intelligence Unit is being closed 18 months before the end of the final project.
§ Mr. JohnEach of the 12 local Community Development Projects is expected to prepare a full and comprehensive report assessing its activities and drawing out the lessons of its work for national as well as local policies for tackling urban deprivation. These reports will, of course, be considered and assessed by the Government. It was never envisaged that the Information and Intelligence Unit should prepare a national evaluation of the Community Development Projects.
§ Mrs. Wiseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the total estimated cost of the Community Development Projects; and how much will be saved by the closure of the Information and Intelligence Unit in September 1976.
§ Mr. JohnOn present plans, the estimated total cost of the Community Development Projects in England and Wales, excluding the cost of social action projects and central support activity, is about £2.1 million. The estimated cost of the Information and Intelligence Unit for the period of 1st April-30th September is £27,000.
