§ Mr. GoldingThe numbers of unemployed whose last job was in either the private or public sector can be estimated only in an imprecise way by allocating the figures for each Minimum List Heading of the Standard Industrial Classification to the sector appropriate to the majority of those in that heading. These numbers for June, expressed as a proportion of total employees in each of the private and public sectors, are 6.8 and 2.4 per cent respectively.
