Mr. Churchillasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what clarification he has caused to be issued by Her Majesty's Ambassador in Rome following statements made by Mr. Berlinguer that Her Majesty's Government viewed favourably the possible inclusion of the Communist Party within the Government of Italy.
§ Mr. HattersleyNone. As my right hon. Friend told the House on 16th June, it is for the Italian people to choose their own Government. It would not be appropriate for the British Government to engage in public discussion of what the choice should be.
