§ Dr. Summerskill£1,000 is the maximum current value of a single prize in a public lottery promoted under the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963, as amended by the Lotteries Act 1975. In a lottery promoted as an incident of an entertainment under those Acts, the promoters may not appropriate more than £50 of the proceedings of the lottery for prizes. In a private lottery under the 1963 Act there are no such limits.
