§ 56. Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether it remains his policy that LEAs should have autonomy in matters of school organisation and curriculum.
§ Mr. MulleyI intend to secure the early enactment of the Education Bill now before Parliament which affects the balance of power between central and local government in the organisation of secondary education. I have no present478W proposals for changing the provisions of the Education Acts dealing with responsibility for the instruction provided in primary and secondary schools. The efficiency of the education provided is a matter of general concern to me and this depends, among other things, on the suitability of the curriculum.
