§ Dr. Hampsonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science in the light of his recent reduction in the number of graduates and non-graduates entering teacher training in 1977, if he can now estimate how many places there will be available in 1981, and how many colleges it is now expected will have to close.
§ Mr. Gerry FowlerThe decision to reduce the intake in 1977 will not of itself require further college closures. The advisory committee is to give further consideration to teacher supply and the capacity of the teacher training system in the autumn.
