Mr. Alan WilliamsOur policy is to make the greatest practicable use of indiginous resources where it is economic to do so. In accordance with this policy, the Government set up 18 months ago the Waste Management Advisory Council to review the development of waste management policies in the United Kingdom and to make recommendations aimed at increasing the recycling of waste materials. Dr. Robert Barry was appointed Director of the National Anti-Waste Programme in January to carry forward the work of the council, including the recommendations contained in its first report.
